Kingdom gratitude

We are your people, your very own sheep. We will praise you forever. For all time to come we will keep on praising you. ~ Psalm 79:13 (CEV)

I pray that you will be grateful to God for letting you have part in what he has promised his people in the kingdom of light. ~ Colossians 1:12 (CEV)
God,
THANKS: I am thankful that you are letting me have a part in what you have promised to all your people. You've given me an important position in this kingdom of light that you are establishing. Darkness is doomed. And I'm so thankful.
REGRET: I'm sorry that I'm slow to recognize the significance of this which you are doing. It's because I'm still too attached to the old kingdom -- the kingdom of darkness.
INTERCESSION: Help me to cut all ties to the old kingdom.
PURPOSE: I'm going to celebrate all that you do for your people -- including me. I'm going to praise you and celebrate your kindness by acting according to the light of your kingdom.
Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
