Deeper

You are the only one who knows every human heart. ~ 1 Kings 8:39b (NIRV)

Our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father loved us. By his grace God gave us comfort that will last forever. The hope he gave us is good. May our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father comfort your hearts. May they make you strong in every good thing you do and say. ~ 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (NIRV)
God, the world is so shallow. Even if we could see deeper we'd only want to see a little. We don't want to recognize how complicated the world is. But thankfully, you see deep into each of us. You see the hearts. You heal hearts. Even if my understanding will never be as deep as yours, please help me to think of the hearts -- to recognize that there is more to people than their actions, their status, their clothing, or even thier families. I want to go deeper. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
