Helping
Don’t plan to harm your neighbor
who trusts and lives near you. ~ Proverbs 3:29 (CEB)
We should help people whenever we can... ~ Galatians 6:10a (CEV)
Lord, you call us to work for the well-being of our neighbors. These are your people. They belong to you. Thank you for caring about all of us. I confess that I don't always care so much. I don't really plan to harm people but I don't always help them when I can. I always seem to find a reason that I can't help. Most of them are not even good reasons. Please give me a heart for everyone who is made in your image. With your help I'm going to start looking for ways to help people -- and I'm going to quit making excuses. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
