Peace and safety

Like an eagle that rouses her chicks and hovers over her young, so he spread his wings to take them up and carried them safely on his pinions. The Lord alone guided his people. ~ Deuteronomy 32:11-12a (NLT)

Then God’s peace will watch over your hearts and your minds. He will do this because you belong to Christ Jesus. God’s peace can never be completely understood. ~ Philippians 4:7 (NIRV)
Lord,

THANKS: Thank you for bringing peace into my life. I'm so grateful that you are looking out for me. I'm especially grateful that you sacrificed your Son, Jesus, to establish this peace.

REGRETS: Even though you promise peace, at times I get sucked into conflicts. I try to resolve them with pressure and force. I rationalize that your "peace is for other situations but this time I need to use a little persuasion." That is misguided thinking.

INTERCESSION: Cure me of my broken mind and my unwillingness to completely embrace your mystereous peace. Watch over me even when I am doubtful.

PURPOSE: I know that I belong to you so I don't need to prove anything to anyone.

Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
