Great God, you're in charge. And you don't play games with us.
THANKS: Thank you for being real and genuine.
REGRETS: While you don't play games and jerk us around, there are people who do so -- pretending to speak for you. Sometimes I might slip that direction -- thinking I'm doing you a favor. And sometimes I pay too much attention to others who command authority. I need to listen more carefully to you.
INTERCESSION: Please help me to tune out the distractions -- even the ones in my own head.
PURPOSE: I want to be faithful to you and your message to us.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
