All powerful

The 10th Sunday after Pentecost

The Lord overrules what the nations plan; he frustrates what the peoples intend to do. ~ Psalm 33:10 (CEB)

When Christ was raised from the dead and was seated in the position of authority next to God the Father -- that was God’s power was at work. And there he sits high above all authorities and rulers -- even over angels. All powers -- whether present or future -- are subservient to Christ and his divine power. ~ Ephesians 1:20-21 (ABP)
All powerful God,

THANKS: You alone are worthy of all praise and recognition. All power-brokers within the creation are under your authority and will have to answer to Christ. That makes me feel better about the world.
REGRETS: But I still get annoyed when bad guys get away with things. I let their continued existence get to me when I should be trusting you to take care of it all.

INTERCESSION: But when I stop long enough to think about it, I know that you will. You will take care of it all. Reshape my mind and heart so that they line up with the reality of the resurrection.

PURPOSE: I'm going to live as a resurrection realist!

Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
