Love

If you really want to live, you must stop doing wrong and start doing right. ~ Amos 5:14a (CEV)

Show love in everything you do. ~ 1 Corinthians 16:14
Lord,

THANKS: You have shown us love in everything you've done. We are especially grateful that in love you sent your Son to live among us, die for us, and lead us into new life.

REGRETS: I want to show that kind of love in everything I do. But I don't. There is more of me that needs converting.

INTERCESSION: Save me from fear and selfishness. Help me to show your love through everything that I do.

PURPOSE: If I can love you with everything I am, and love my neighbors with the same energy that I put into loving myself, I know that I will be truly happy. For that is what is right.

Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
