Praying

Amos said: “Lord God, forgive us. How could Israel live through this? It is too small already!” So the Lord changed his mind about this. “It will not happen,” said the Lord. ~ Amos 7:2b-3 (NCV)

At all times, pray by the power of the Spirit. Pray all kinds of prayers. Be watchful, so that you can pray. Always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. ~ Ephesians 6:18 (NIRV)
Lord, thank you for being willing to change your mind in response to our repentance and prayer. I am way too casual about prayer. I don't take it seriously enough. Perhaps that's because I don't see so many answers and I give up too quickly. Grant me stamina in prayer. Help me to breathe prayers out with every breath I exhale. I want to become a living prayer machine. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
