Teaching
Your laws are my greatest joy!
I follow their advice. ~ Psalm 119:24 (CEV)
After three days Jesus‘ parents found him in the temple. He was sitting among the teachers, listening to them and putting questions to them. ~ Luke 2:46b (CEB)
Lord,
THANKS: I'm so grateful for the teachers in my life -- for your law and how it advises me -- for the fact that you care enough to invest your word in me.
REGRETS: I'm a slow learner. I do eventually figure out that your advice is best. I do eventually come around. But I am slow to change. I wonder if that's because I'm a slow person or if I have so much ego invested in my established patterns and opinions that I'm reluctant to change.
INTERCESSION: Jesus, just as you taught the teachers in the temple teach me. Don't give up on me, even if I'm slow.
PURPOSE: I will eventually come around. My deepest desire is to be well-taught by you.
Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
