God wants us!
The 5th Sunday of Easter
I will claim you as my own people, and I will be your God. ~ Exodus 6:7a (NLT)
See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! ~ 1 John 3:1a (NLT)
KEY IDEA:
God wants us!
PRAYER:
Lord, so much of life is about dealing with rejection. But you never reject your people.
To the contrary you are forever reaching out to us and claiming us as your own. In contrast, I too often reject your directions for living the best life possible -- a life defined by my walk with you. I suppose that in a sense means I'm rejecting you. How could I do that? I don't want to do that. Guide me to the point where I am able to live as your dearly loved child. That's who I am! Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
