Joy

But someday you will hear happy voices and the sounds of parties and wedding celebrations. And when people come to my temple to offer sacrifices to thank me, you will hear them say:

“We praise you, Lord All-Powerful! You are good to us, and your love never fails.” ~ Jeremiah 33:10b-11a (CEV)

John the Baptist said: At a wedding the groom is the one who gets married. The best man is glad just to be there and to hear the groom’s voice. That’s why I am so glad. ~ John 3:29 (CEV)

KEY IDEA:
Sad days don't last so we should point to the source of joy -- Jesus.
PRAYER:
Thank you, Lord, for the love that never fails. You are my source of happiness. Forgive me for choosing to be stuck in the sadness that comes with doing my own thing without you. I need to be reminded of you faithful love. I'm going to focus on your goodness rather than the badness in the world. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
