The God who delievers
Pentecost Sunday
I’m still your God,
the God who saved you out of Egypt.
I’m the only real God you’ve ever known.
I’m the one and only God who delivers. ~ Hosea 13:4 (MSG)
This is how we know we’re living steadily and deeply in him, and he in us: He’s given us life from his life, from his very own Spirit. Also, we’ve seen for ourselves and continue to state openly that the Father sent his Son as Savior of the world. ~ 1 John 4:13-14 (MSG)
KEY IDEA:
God still delivers us.
PRAYER:
Generous God, you have been leading your people from day one. And you have been saving us --
delivering us from evil -- the whole time. Jesus is my Savior so I know that I'm saved, but I'm also stubborn. And I resist being led.
Save me from myself. You are the only God I've ever known and through your Holy Spirit I am going to live my life connected to you. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
