God's promises
Lent
God is no mere human! He doesn’t tell lies or change his mind. God always keeps his promises. ~ Numbers 23:19 (CEV)
Right away, Jesus reached out his hand. He helped Peter up and said, “You surely don’t have much faith. Why do you doubt?” ~ Matthew 14:31 (CEV)
KEY IDEA:
Why doubt? God always keeps his word.
PRAYER:
Lord, thank you for your faithfulness. You always keep your promises. So, I wonder why it is that I lack faith. And it's not like I can just tell myself "Don't doubt." Even with the best of intentions, I let my circumstances bother me. I think it is because I am inexperienced in trusting you. Keep lifting me up, Lord, until trusting you becomes natural for me. Even though my faith is imperfect I am going to stick close to you because over time you will perfect it. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
