Joy and Peace
Lent
You will live in joy and peace.
The mountains and hills will burst into song,
and the trees of the field will clap their hands! ~ Isaiah 55:12 (NLT)
So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. ~ Hebrews 2:1 (NLT)
KEY IDEA:
God offers lives of joy and peace to those who will stick with him.
PRAYER:
Kind God, you offer lives of joy and peace to those who will stick with you. I want to participate in what you offer. But I am not a good listener. I am easily distracted by other voices and influenced by things that are not true. So, again, I ask you to help me tune out the other voices so that I can listen carefully to you. I'm looking forward to the song I hear -- that of trees of the field clapping their hands. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
