Hope
I pray to you, Lord!
You are my place of safety,
and you are my choice
in the land of the living. ~ Psalm 142:5 (CEV)
Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is so good, and by raising Jesus from death, he has given us new life and a hope that lives on. ~ 1 Peter 1:3 (CEV)
KEY IDEA:
We put our unending hope in God.
PRAYER:
God, no matter how crazy things get I am going to continue to put my hope in you. Sometimes I waver a little bit and begin to trust myself, other people, or even fate. Forgive me for that. But if you will continue to draw me back to yourself I will continue to put my hope in Christ Jesus. You are the reliable choice. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
