Unusual peace
“Don’t be afraid,” he said, “for you are very precious to God. Peace! Be encouraged! Be strong!” ~ Daniel 10:19 (NLT)
I give you peace, the kind of peace that only I can give. It isn’t like the peace that this world can give. So don’t be worried or afraid. ~ John 14:27 (CEV)
KEY IDEA:
Relax! God is giving out his peace.
PRAYER:
God, there is so much in the world that stresses me out. Some days I feel like I am about to explode with anxiety. But you are there with outstretched arms offering a calming hug. Forgive me when I am slow to respond. I have no good excuse. But I do want to be a part of your peace movement. Help me to worry less about how others will respond to your approach and to trust you more for peaceful outcomes. I am going to live at peace through Jesus. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
