The Fourth Sunday in Lent
AMOS 8:11-12 (MSG)
“Oh yes, Judgment Day is coming!”
These are the words of my Master God.
“I’ll send a famine through the whole country.
It won’t be food or water that’s lacking, but my Word.
People will drift from one end of the country to the other,
roam to the north, wander to the east.
They’ll go anywhere, listen to anyone,
hoping to hear God’s Word—but they won’t hear it.

But he said, “Happy rather are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”
SUMMARY SENTENCE
God's word nourishes us but only as we put it into practice.
PRAYER
Gracious Lord, you declare those blessed who hear and trust your promises. Forgive me for not taking time to listen to your word. Since I don't listen to you, why do I think I truly listen to others? I hear to my own advantage. Give me ears, O Lord, to hear you and to listen to you. Amen. (Daily Texts, Ground Up Grace edition)
