TRANSFORMING GRACE

 JEREMIAH 2:35 (MSG)

And yet you have the nerve to say, ‘I’ve done nothing wrong.

God doesn’t mind. He hasn’t punished me, has he?’
Don’t look now, but judgment’s on the way,
aimed at you who say, ‘I’ve done nothing wrong.’

So roll up your sleeves, get your head in the game, be totally ready to receive the gift that’s coming when Jesus arrives.

Own your sinfulness and experience God's grace.

PRAYER

Gracious God, thank you for accepting me -- even though I'm still a sinner. No, I'm not as bad as I could be, but there are still things in my life which I'm sure are contrary to you are your ways. Forgive me and use your grace to transform my life. I'm aiming to become the person you want me to be. Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
