THE KINGDOM

DANIEL 2:44 (MSG)
The God of heaven will be building a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will this kingdom ever fall under the domination of another.

LUKE 22:29-30 (CEB)
Jesus said, "And I confer royal power on you just as my Father granted royal power to me. Thus you will eat and drink at my table in my kingdom..."

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Jesus came to establish an unending kingdom based on his power and agenda.

DAILY FODDER
What exactly is Jesus' kingdom? Is it already in operation? If so, how so?

PRAYER
King of kings and Lord of lords, yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Yet, you confer on me, a sinner, your eternal kingdom. I thank you for your gift of salvation and the promise of eating at your table forever. Help me to share your love and mercy with others. Amen. (Daily Texts, Ground Up Grace edition)

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
