Glory
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord All-Powerful.
His glory fills the whole earth. ~ Isaiah 6:3b (NCV)
Yes, God made all things, and everything continues through him and for him. To him be the glory forever! Amen. ~ Romans 11:36 (NCV)
Holy Lord, All-Powerful, I want to join in the chorus of those singing your praise and giving you glory. You are unique and powerful -- and worthy of whatever honor we direct your way. Yet, even with your brilliant glory flooding my life with your light, I am easily distracted. Sometimes I get sucked into proclaiming my own glory. I'm pathetic in that way. But you let me remain in your praise choir anyway. And for that I'm grateful. As I sing of your glory I'm getting over my own need for glory. And that is a welcome relief. Amen.
Challenging Word
- pathetic -- -- troubling, something or someone to be pitied, poor, very bad, very weak
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
